Your Data Stays on Your Machine
AuxMem is designed with privacy as a core principle. When you self-host AuxMem, all your data — documents, photos, videos, knowledge graph — stays entirely on your machine. We never have access to it.
Cloud Subscribers
If you subscribe to our hosted cloud tier:
- Dedicated per-tenant instance. Your Lightsail instance and attached volume are scoped to your account. No shared database across customers.
- Personal text stays on your volume. Summaries, transcriptions, entity display names, and note titles are written to a SQLite sidecar on your dedicated volume. The hosted Neo4j holds only structural metadata: ids, content hashes, timestamps, and edge types. See /privacy-architecture for the full diagram.
- PII guardrail before LLMs. Before any external LLM call, names, emails, phone numbers, addresses, and other identifiers are replaced with placeholders. The same scrubber runs for free and paid users.
- LLM processing: When you use cloud LLM features, the PII-scrubbed text is sent through our API to the LLM provider. We do not store this content after processing.
- We store: Your account email, license key, usage counters (token counts for billing), and payment information (via Stripe).
- We do NOT store: Your documents, photos, chat history, knowledge graph contents, or any personal text from your processed files.
Payment Processing
Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store credit card numbers. Stripe handles all payment security.
Analytics
Our website may use privacy-friendly analytics to understand traffic patterns. No personal data is collected. No cookies are used for tracking.
Data Deletion
Self-hosted: Delete your data anytime by removing your local files and Neo4j database.
Cloud subscribers: Email us to delete your account. We will remove all account data within 30 days.
